Library at Glance

The library of MGM Medical College came into existence 32 years ago when the Medical College was just established. It was accommodated, originally, in a small room located on the first floor of the Preventive and Social Medicine Block. It was shifted to a separate specified area on 2003 on the same floor with a carpet area of 1000 sq. m. It moved again from 1st floor to 2nd floor in November 2008 to a larger space with a plinth area of 1400 sq. m. in order to accommodate its ever-growing collection. Its physical infrastructure, as well as health literature, library, and information services, have further been strengthened and developed in order to cope with the status of the Central Medical Library of MGMIHS in accordance with the position of Deemed University which was accorded in 2006 by the University Grants Commission, Government of India.

The main objective of the library is to meet the information needs of faculty, students, and research workers who are involved in studies and research in various branches of health and allied sciences. It has grown parallel to the development of the MGMIHS. The main objective of the library is to provide health literature, library, and information services to its patrons using modern information technologies. It has now 10 Reading Rooms where more than 500 users can sit at a time for consulting their reading materials.

The library has Virtual Learning Resource Centre (E-Library) with excellent state-of-the-art computer facilities having 65 Internet-connected computer terminals provides email facility and access to e-materials and e-resources.
